Mychal Bell was released from custody earlier today after a juvenile court judge set his bail at $45,000. Mychal Bell's release came hours after the prosecutor confirmed he would no longer seek an adult trial for the 17-year-old. Bell, one of the teenagers known as the "Jena Six", still faces trial as a juvenile for the December beating in the small central Louisiana town
"There's only one person who could have brought me through this and that's the good Lord," Bell told reporters later in front of his home.
"He goes home because a lot of people left their home and stood up for him," Sharpton said as Bell stood smiling next to him.
We still have mountains to climb, but at least this is closer to an even playing field," said the Rev. Al Sharpton, who helped organize last week's protest.
If you ask me, Mychal has already served enough time for this case and I believe everyone involved would like to move on with their lives. However, we are all prepared for the long run and it looks like this entire case will be around for awhile. Good thing is, they're not alone.

It's good to see progress is being made, but still a long way to go
